German publication Motorsport-Total.com recently ranked all F1 drivers who competed in the 2020 season, with Lewis Hamilton coming first, ahead of Max Verstappen, Daniel Ricciardo and Sergio Perez.
In an interview with the media outlet, Dr Helmut Marko, head of Red Bull’s driver programme, agreed that Lewis Hamilton was the best driver of 2020.

“Yes, we agree. However, I base my answer only on Hamilton’s race in Turkey,” Dr Marko said, explaining that he only believes Hamilton did a better job than Verstappen because the Dutch ace made a mistake in Istanbul, while the seven-time World Champion had a stellar race.
However, the Austrian didn’t seem particularly impressed by Lewis Hamilton’s tally of victories over the course of the season:
“We know that nothing can go wrong when you’re leading with a Mercedes,” Dr Marko added.
Hamilton comfortably won the 2020 F1 Drivers’ Championship despite missing the Sakhir Grand Prix after contracting COVID-19 – and he is in a strong position to break Michael Schumacher’s record next year.
Meanwhile, his Mercedes team-mate Valtteri Bottas fended off Max Verstappen to finish in P2 after a lacklustre season plagued by bad luck.
