Schumacher ‘Guaranteed’ F1 Seat If He Finishes Third Or Higher In Formula 2

The young German is currently leading the Formula 2 Drivers’ Standings.

Mick Schumacher is “guaranteed” a seat in Formula One next year if he manages a top three finish in the 2020 Formula Two Championship, RaceFans reports.

Mick, the son of seven-time F1 World Champion Michael Schumacher, is currently in his second season in Formula Two and leads the Championship by eight points.

With nine rounds of the season completed, the standings remain pretty close at the top, with fourth-placed Robert Shwartzman just 21 points adrift of Schumacher.

In late August, sources told Formual1News.co.uk that Schumacher will “almost certainly” be on the Formula One grid in 2021, with Haas and Alfa Romeo being the most likely options.

The young German drove his father’s Championship-winning Ferrari F2004 around Mugello last weekend and has enjoyed a strong season in F2 thus far.
