Earlier this week, Scuderia AlphaTauri confirmed that Pierre Gasly will still be driving for the team next season, killing off the Frenchman’s hopes of a swift return to Red Bull.
It was previously reported that Gasly wasn’t in the running for the second Red Bull seat alongside Max Verstappen as he had “upset” a few people within the team.

However, Helmut Marko, the head of Red Bull’s driver development programme, has insisted that he has nothing against Gasly and suggested he could make a return to the Milton Keynes-based team in the future.
“I have nothing against Mr Gasly. He drives better than ever. We just urgently need him for AlphaTauri,” Marko said in a recent interview.
Continuing, Marko said: “Our AlphTauri clothing line is a project in which a lot of money is being invested and sales have risen noticeably since Gasly’s victory at Monza and his other excellent performances.
“For the strategy we have I need a very strong driver, especially if Tsunoda is a rookie in the car next year,” the Austrian added.
“Gasly is an essential part of our company philosophy. We have given Gasly a raise and the promise that we will talk again at the end of 2021.”
