Scuderia AlphaTauri team principal Franz Tost has said he doesn’t think Aston Martin Racing will be able to provide Sebastian Vettel with a car capable of winning him a fifth F1 Championship.
“I hope and wish for him that he will be successful and able to win races,” Tost said in a recent interview.

“But I do not think he will be able to compete for the Championship with Aston Martin.”
Earlier this month, Tost said Vettel is still capable of winning races and Championships if given the “right car”.
“Sebastian has not forgotten how to drive – he is a four-time world champion and still the last Ferrari winner. Everyone can see why they are having problems at Ferrari, and it’s not down to him. It’s clearly the car.
“The insiders know that, so I’m not worried about his reputation. Sebastian could still win races and titles in the right car, there is no doubt about that,” Tost said.
Aston Martin Racing’s senior management have said they are looking to become one of Formula One’s most successful teams, and they could benefit from the introduction of a budget cap in 2021 and the shake-up of the technical regulations a year later.
