Aston Martin Looking To Become ‘One Of F1’s Most Successful Teams’

Racing Point’s team principal has said they have big ambitions, both on and off the track.

With Racing Point poised to be rebranded Aston Martin Racing next year and the team recently signing four-time World Champion Sebastian Vettel to partner Lance Stroll, it’s clear that they are looking to emerge from the midfield and become one of the front-runners in Formula One.

Racing Point has now announced that Jefferson Slack, a former Inter Milan CEO, has been hired as managing director of its commercial and marketing operations.

Commenting on the move, team principal Otmar Szafnauer said the addition of Slack will help Aston Martin Racing in its goal of becoming “one of F1’s most successful teams.”

“I am delighted Jefferson is joining us in the newly-created role of Managing Director. He will be responsible for leading all our commercial and marketing activities as we look to build one of F1’s most successful teams, both on and off the track,” Szafnauer said.

Meanwhile, chairman and team owner Lawrence Stroll said they are delighted to have Slack at the team.

“With the progress we have made this season on the track and with our upcoming relaunch as Aston Martin F1 team, we have a unique opportunity to create an iconic new sports property that’s at the forefront of Formula 1,” Stroll added.

In 2000, Slack became the first American CEO of a top European football club when he took the helm at Serie A giants Inter Milan.

Slack has said he is looking forward to building an “iconic new sports brand” and is very excited by the challenge.
