On Friday, Red Bull announced that Sergio Perez will be replacing Alex Albon for the 2021 season, meaning the Thai driver won’t be on the F1 grid next year.
Instead, he will serve as Red Bull’s reserve and test driver – and will be hoping he can make a comeback the following season.

The decision has triggered a wave of criticism from F1 fans on social media, with many accusing Red Bull of ruining Albon’s career by focusing all of their attention on Max Verstappen, like they did when Pierre Gasly very briefly drove for the team.
However, there were plenty of fans who believe that dropping Albon and signing Perez is the right decision, especially after Checo had such a strong season.
