Following Pierre Gasly’s shock win at the Italian Grand Prix, there have been growing calls for Alex Albon to be demoted to Scuderia AlphaTauri to make way for the Frenchman at Red Bull.
Albon recently said he doesn’t feel like he is under any extra pressure due to Gasly’s victory, and he believes he is making progress at Red Bull.

And, Red Bull team principal Christian Horner has now said they want to give the Thai driver the “best opportunity” to keep his seat.
“As far as Red Bull Racing’s seats are concerned, we are focused on Alex Albon,” Horner said.
“We want to try and give him the best opportunity to retain that seat. We’ve got some issues we’re working on with the car and I think that it wouldn’t make sense to switch the drivers back.”
Continuing, Horner stressed that AlphaTauri is “now a sister team rather than a junior team,” and added that team principal Franz Tost is happy with Gasly’s form.
“…So the final decision will be made later in the year. But there’s no push from our side to reverse the situation [switch Gasly and Albon around].”
