Red Bull’s technical director Pierre Waché has discussed the potential benefits of the team’s extra wind tunnel runs for the 2025 season, which they earned by finishing third in the Constructors’ Championship.
This advantage could prove crucial in developing their car for the upcoming season, but Waché is careful not to underestimate the challenge.
Maximizing the Advantage
Aerodynamic testing restrictions (ATR) give the lowest-performing team more wind tunnel time, and with Red Bull allowed 96 more runs than McLaren in the first half of 2025, they have an opportunity to refine their car.
However, Waché acknowledged that this increased wind tunnel time is not a guarantee of success. “It is potentially a big advantage for 2026, and I hope that we use it properly,” he said.

While Red Bull may have more resources than McLaren and Ferrari, the team will need to balance in-season development with their long-term focus on the 2026 regulations.
Waché emphasized the need to make strategic decisions, saying, “If we have a chance to fight for the championship in 2025, and I think we will, then you will never throw away a championship.”
A Challenging but Promising Road Ahead
As Red Bull prepares for the 2025 season, Waché remains confident that the additional wind tunnel runs will provide a competitive edge—but only if used wisely.
“It is a positive aspect of our position, so it can be quite positive,” he added.
With the right strategy, Red Bull could be in the mix for another championship, though the balance between immediate success and future development will be crucial.
