Perez Reportedly Signs Preliminary Contract With Haas

The Mexican found out earlier this month that he would have to make way for Sebastian Vettel at Racing Point.

Sergio Perez has signed a preliminary contract to drive for the the Haas Formula One team in 2021, according to Speedweek.com.  

The team nor Perez have confirmed this, and it’s unclear which of Haas’ existing drivers – Romain Grosjean and Kevin Magnussen – would have to make way for Perez if he does end up joining the American racing outfit.

Earlier, team principal Guenther Steiner said he was open to a completely new driver line-up for 2021, so there’s a chance that both Grosjean and Magnussen won’t be Haas drivers next season.

Steiner has also said that he “respects” Perez for saving the Silverstone-based team and believes it would be a shame if he isn’t on the Formula One grid next year.
