Mercedes have shared an image revealing the general livery design of their 2021 challenger, the W12, just days before the Silver Arrows will unveil the car in a virtual event.
The image, released on Saturday, indicates that the W12 will have a sort of gradient design, with it gradually transitioning from black at the front to Mercedes’ classic silver at the rear.

All of Mercedes’ F1 cars since its return to the sport in 2010 have had a silver livery, with the exception of last year’s car, which had a black livery as part of the Silver Arrow’s campaign against racism and black injustice.
The image released by Mercedes over the weekend doesn’t include sponsor logos – which will change the car’s look quite considerably – but even so, it is clear that the W12 will have a significantly different livery to their 2020 car.
Branding of UK headquartered multi-national chemicals company Ineos was a major feature of the W11, and it’ll be interesting to see how prominent their logos are on the W12, as they recently purchased a one-third stake in the Mercedes F1 Team.
Mercedes will officially unveil the W12 on Tuesday in a virtual event which will be streamed across the globe.
