Mercedes reveal George Russell stance amid Lewis Hamilton contract uncertainty

Mercedes trackside engineering director Andrew Shovlin believes it’s only a matter of time before George Russell wins a championship.

George Russell’s ascent to Formula 1 world championship glory is an unshakable belief held by Andrew Shovlin, the trackside engineering director of Mercedes.

Shovlin confidently envisions a trajectory for the 25-year-old that mirrors the remarkable journey of Max Verstappen, cementing Russell’s name among the elite champions of the sport.

Russell’s impressive journey already includes a triumph as a race winner, having claimed victory at the 2022 Sao Paulo Grand Prix, surpassing even his accomplished teammate, Lewis Hamilton.

While the current season, 2023, has presented its share of challenges for the King’s Lynn native, he has demonstrated his resilience by securing a podium finish in Barcelona and leading laps in Australia.
