Live: Qualifying For The Portuguese Grand Prix At Algarve

Q1 was scheduled to start at 2:00PM (BST) but was delayed by 30 minutes.

Qualifying for the Portuguese Grand Prix got underway at 2:30PM (BST) after Q1 was delayed due a drain cover coming loose in FP3.

Valtteri Bottas was looking to take pole position after topping all the practice sessions of the weekend.

Q1

The first segment of qualifying got underway at 2:30PM (BST) following repair work on drains around the circuit.

Lewis Hamilton topped the session ahead of Max Verstappen and Bottas.

The five drivers to be knocked out of Q1 are Kimi Raikkonen, Antonio Giovinazzi, Romain Grosjean, Kevin Magnussen and Nicholas Latifi.

Williams driver George Russell put in a strong lap to narrowly make it into the second segment of qualifying.

Q2

Esteban Ocon, Lance Stroll, Daniil Kvyat, George Russell and Sebastian Vettel have failed to make it into Q3.

Ocon just narrowly missed out, while Vettel will start the race down in P15.

Bottas topped the session ahead of Mercedes team-mate Lewis Hamilton and Verstappen.

The Silver Arrows drivers will start the race on the medium-compound tyre, while Verstappen will start on a set of softs.

Q3

Hamilton claimed pole for the Portuguese GP, with Bottas and Verstappen just behind him in P2 and P3, respectively.

Unusually, the Mercedes drivers did their final Q3 run on the medium-compound tyres, as everyone seemed to be struggling to keep the softs in their operating window.

Charles Leclerc did a very strong lap to put his Ferrari on the second row of the grid, ahead of Sergio Perez and Alex Albon.
