George Russell, Lando Norris and Alex Albon have jokingly labelled Lewis Hamilton as a “greedy” driver, for wanting to add to his seven world titles.
Hamilton is eager to claim an unprecedented eighth Drivers’ Championship to secure the all-time record for most titles won by a single driver, an accolade he currently shares with Michael Schumacher.
Had it not been for former race director Michael Masi going against the rulebook in the 2021 season finale, then Hamilton would already be an eight-time World Champion.
Instead, he remains on seven but doesn’t look set to claim an eighth before his F1 career concludes.

Whilst he recently signed a new deal with Mercedes keeping him at the side until the end of 2025, Red Bull’s and Max Verstappen’s dominance doesn’t look set to end anytime soon, denting Hamilton’s chances of fighting for the crown once again.
Since the conclusion of 2021, Hamilton just hasn’t looked like a championship contender, although a lot of that is also due to Mercedes not having a package capable of challenging Red Bull.
Hamilton’s desire to win an eighth crown was discussed by Russell, Norris and Albon, whilst they spoke about their desire to become a World Champion.
Norris noted that simply scoring points isn’t enough to satisfy a driver who is dreaming of becoming World Champion, unless your reigning World Champion Verstappen, as pointed out by Russell.
Whilst a lot of their conversation was done so in a comical manner, they did make a very interesting point about how challenging it is for an F1 driver to be “satisfied”, something it appears even Hamilton isn’t because he’s being “greedy” and wanting another title.
“As much as you’re enjoying points week in, week out, you probably weren’t satisfied either,” Russell said in a video on F1’s official YouTube channel.
“I guess you’re never satisfied are you,” responded Norris, to which Russell said: “Unless you’re winning championships, and then like Max, he’s probably not satisfied with…”
“I think he’s very satisfied.” Norris quickly noted whilst Russell was mid-sentence, with a clear smirk on his face.
Albon also joined in and jokingly said: “I think his bank account is satisfied as well.”

Russell attempted to backtrack on his statement, before trying to come at it from a different angle, by using Hamilton as an example.
“I think he’s satisfied,” Russell explained, “But you know what I mean? It’s like there’s always… Alright, Lewis (Hamilton) as an example, he wants more than seven championships.”
“Yeah that’s just greedy,” joked Norris.
