Formula One is returning to Turkey for the first time since 2011 this weekend, and things got off to an interesting start, with countless drivers spinning in Free Practice One as they struggled to get to grips with the slippery surface.
Red Bull driver Max Verstappen ended the session in P1 after setting a lap time of just over 1:35ms towards the end of FP1.

The Dutch driver also topped FP2, which saw teams try out the soft-compound tyre.
While this compound provided considerably more grip, many drivers reported that it was graining very quickly and therefore might not be a prominent feature of the Turkish Grand Prix on Sunday.
