Helmut Marko makes admission about Max Verstappen leaving Red Bull

The Dutchman ascended to a position within the Milton Keynes-based outfit after just one season and four races as an F1 driver, clinching a victory on his debut for Red Bull at the 2016 Spanish Grand Prix.

Red Bull Motorsport Advisor Helmut Marko has outlined the circumstances under which Max Verstappen might part ways with the team.

The Dutchman ascended to a position within the Milton Keynes-based outfit after just one season and four races as an F1 driver, clinching a victory on his debut for Red Bull at the 2016 Spanish Grand Prix.

Verstappen has asserted his dominance in F1 over the past two seasons since claiming the first of three Drivers’ titles in 2021, with the subsequent two successes marking the finest two statistical campaigns in the sport’s history.

The collaboration between Verstappen and Red Bull has been so potent that his current contract extends until the conclusion of the 2028 season.

Nevertheless, Marko has asserted that an exit route remains plausible.

Addressing Verstappen’s contractual situation in an interview with Servus TV, Marko remarked: “In every Formula 1 contract, there are specific clauses.

That holds true for Max’s contract as well. I don’t believe an exorbitant sum of money is a pressing concern for him.

Our priority is furnishing him with a championship-winning car.

“Naturally, he aspires to success as a driver. Max isn’t getting any younger.

If Max perceives a lack of prospects for success with Red Bull and performance benchmarks come into play, it’s evident that he will explore other options.”
