Haas F1 team principal Guenther Steiner has said he is “very happy” that Romain Grosjean’s IndyCar career has gotten off to a successful start.
The Frenchman raced with Haas last year, but he found himself out of a seat after the American racing outfit decided to drop him and team-mate Kevin Magnussen to make way for Mick Schumacher and Nikita Mazepin.

Grosjean is competing with Dale Coyne Racing in his debut IndyCar season, and he has scored two podiums so far this year, in addition to taking pole position at Indianapolis.
Steiner has said he is glad to see Grosjean “surprising people” off the back of a very challenging final season in Formula 1.
“I’m very happy for him,” Steiner said in an interview with Motorsport.com.
“Last year was very tough for him. I’m not going back to the incident [in Bahrain]. It’s our car last year, you know, where we were. So it was a tough year for him.”
Continuing, Steiner said: “It’s good that he can come back and do what he’s doing. Because he is clearly surprising people, because he’s not in one of the big three teams, which makes it already difficult, but he’s always showing that he’s there when there is something good to be taken.
“For sure, I know the guy now well enough, he will be very motivated by that. Because he lives on his results. That is what he does. So I’m very happy for him.”
