Sir Lewis Hamilton and the Mercedes F1 Team have struggled to agree terms of a new deal because the Brit is demanding a pay rise and a multi-year deal, while the Silver Arrows are looking to only offer him a single-year extension, according to reports.

However, not everyone is convinced that this is true; and some believe that Sir Hamilton and Mercedes have already inked a contract extension.
F1 journalist Pino Allievi has said the contract saga is “just a show with a happy ending”, and he is fairly confident that a new contract has already been agreed.
“We might assume that an agreement was already reached in Abu Dhabi,” Allievi told Italy’s Autosprint magazine.
“Do you really think a major player like Ineos would enter the market without the guarantee of Hamilton’s contract extension?” he added
Earlier this week, ex-F1 supremo Bernie Ecclestone also suggested that Sir Lewis Hamilton had already signed a new deal with Mercedes for 2021.
“It’s all just a show so that Lewis in particular stays in the headlines during these dreary weeks,” Ecclestone said.
