Speculation about Sir Lewis Hamilton’s future with the Mercedes F1 Team is growing with every passing day, with several reports suggesting they are unable to agree a contract extension because the seven-time World Champion is demanding a pay rise.

Meanwhile, other reports claim that Sir Hamilton’s insistence on getting another multi-year deal, while Mercedes just want to offer him a one-year contract, is also holding up negotiations.
Formula 1 CEO Stefano Domenicali has said he spoke with Sir Lewis Hamilton over the Christmas but remains unsure if the Brit will stay with Mercedes for the 2021 campaign.
“We spoke in the Christmas period. He is preparing. He did not tell me if he will sign or not sign the renewal with Mercedes,” Domenicali, who recently replaced Chase Carey as the CEO of Formula One, said.
“Of course, he has a great opportunity, not only speaking in a sporting sense, to become the strongest in the world.
“He also has the opportunity to continue to have a role that goes beyond the sporting dimension and he will be able to do it also in the future, in other situations.
“I am convinced and I hope, as an interested party, that everything can be resolved quickly,” the former Ferrari F1 team principal added.
