Max Verstappen found himself unexpectedly sidelined by Christian Horner as the latter revealed his true favourite in the world of Formula 1.
Despite assumptions that the reigning three-time world champion would hold the prime position in Horner’s affections, it was revealed in a surprising turn of events in the second episode of Netflix’s Drive to Survive season six that another driver had secured the coveted spot.
Horner, the principal of the Red Bull racing team, has been a prominent figure on the show since its inception in 2019.
The latest season continues to showcase the team’s success, with three Drivers’ Championships and two Constructors’ Championships under their belt since 2020.

In a scene filmed at Horner’s residence, viewers witnessed a candid moment as the 50-year-old spent time with his wife Geri Horner and their two young children.
During this intimate family setting, Horner posed a question to his daughter Olivia about her favourite driver.
Olivia’s response, “All of them… in Red Bull,” set the stage for the revelation to follow.
Turning the tables on her father, Olivia then asked, “Who’s first place in your heart?” Horner’s immediate response took many by surprise: “Daniel Ricciardo.”
This revelation may have shocked fans given Verstappen’s impressive track record and Ricciardo’s departure from Red Bull.
However, Horner’s fondness for Ricciardo is rooted in their longstanding history together, as the Australian driver emerged from the Red Bull academy.
Reflecting on their relationship, Horner shared, “Daniel was a product of our junior team.
He drove for us for five years, securing seven GP victories and more than 20 podiums, all achieved in Red Bull Racing cars.”

Ricciardo’s career took a downturn after departing from Red Bull, experiencing limited success with Renault and McLaren.
However, he has secured a seat with the rebranded RB F1 Team for the 2024 season, partnering with Yuki Tsunoda.
Meanwhile, Horner finds himself embroiled in controversy as Red Bull investigates allegations of inappropriate behaviour towards a female colleague.
