Charles Leclerc buckles under pressure in hilarious Lewis Hamilton snub

Lewis Hamilton is the most successful driver in the history of Formula 1 in terms of grand prix victories.

Charles Leclerc appears to buckle under the pressure when the spotlight is on him, as proven in a recent video on Formula 1’s official YouTube channel.

In the most recent episode of ‘Grill the Grid’, the drivers were given two minutes to name a driver starting with each letter of the alphabet who’d won a Grand Prix, something which proved to be a challenge.

For example, for the letter ‘P’, the drivers could’ve said Alain Prost, or for ‘M’ they could’ve said Nigel Mansell.

Surprisingly, the letter ‘H’ was very challenging for Leclerc, despite the fact Lewis Hamilton has won more races than anybody in the history of the pinnacle of motorsport.

“It seems so obvious for you but I don’t know why I am stressing out in front of those cameras! No answer is coming to my mind,” Leclerc said.

However, the Monegasque suddenly thought of Hamilton and shouted: “Hamilton! Oh my God!”

Unlike Leclerc, reigning World Champion Max Verstappen instantly thought of his 2021 rival, before joking: “My God, if I wouldn’t have had that one!”

Interestingly, when it came to the letter ‘V’, not everyone went for Verstappen, who became a 45-time race winner following last Sunday’s Belgian Grand Prix.

Whilst Verstappen named himself, Yuki Tsunoda named Sebastian Vettel, whereas several drivers said 1997 World Champion Jacques Villeneuve.

Fernando Alonso was another driver to have a somewhat controversial moment in the video, when it came to the letter ‘O’.

Alonso was completely puzzled when it came to ‘O’, before he was informed that a former team-mate of his fitted the letter.

This was in reference to Esteban Ocon, who won the 2021 Hungarian Grand Prix following a remarkable defensive display by Alonso.

The two-time World Champion clearly figured out who it was who fitted the ‘O’ category, but he shrugged his shoulders whilst smiling and insisted he had no idea.

Unfortunately, neither Hamilton nor George Russell participated in the video, which was won by Carlos Sainz.

Sainz completed 16 letters in two minutes, putting him at the top of the leaderboard.
