After having the 2020 season cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, W Series will return to racing next year in a much more prominent way.
The all-female single-seater racing championship will have eight races which will run in support of F1 grand prix in 2021.

Commenting on the move, W Series CEO Catherine Bond Muir said: “Formula 1 is by some margin the world’s premier motor racing series, and when we promised that W Series would be bigger and better in the future, partnering with Formula 1 was always our ultimate objective.”
Continuing, Muir said: “Our mission will always be to further the interests and prospects of female racing drivers. We also want it to become a crucial default-option stepping stone for any female racing driver.”
She added that “the fact that W Series is now eligible for FIA Super License points will also be an important factor in that regard.”
Ross Brawn was equally enthusiastic about the move, calling W Series “a beacon to many since they began racing in 2019.”
The 2021 W Series calendar is anticipated to be announced in the coming weeks.
