Vettel Reveals Why He Didn’t Buy Schumacher’s Ferrari F2004

Schumacher is Vettel's lifelong hero – and he had hoped to emulate him at Ferrari.

Earlier this month, it emerged that Sebastian Vettel had bought a Williams FW14B – the car which Nigel Mansell drove on his way to winning the 1992 F1 Drivers’ title.

At the Tuscan Grand Prix, Vettel revealed that the Ferrari F2004 is his favourite car and he wanted to buy one, but it was “way too expensive”.

“There was that one, not that exact one, but the same year up for sale, but it was way too expensive.”

Seven-time World Champion Michael Schumacher won his final title with the car in 2004, winning 13 races that season.

His son, Mick Schumacher, drove the F2004 around Mugello as part of the celebrations to mark Ferrari’s 1000th Grand Prix in Formula One.

He currently leads the Formula Two standings and will “almost certainly” be in Formula One next year, according to sources.

The Scuderia continued their poor form in Tuscany, with Charles Leclerc and Sebastian Vettel finishing eighth and tenth, respectively.
