Stormzy makes Martin Brundle comment in new song

Former racing driver and Formula 1 pundit Martin Brundle has been referenced in Stormzy's new single, reflecting the shared respect between the duo.

Renowned British rapper Stormzy has incorporated a reference to Sky Sports F1 pundit Martin Brundle in his latest music single, “Angel in the Marble,” released earlier this month.

The song’s lyrics include the line, “Yeah, I grew up in the jungle, on the grid with Martin Brundle,” offering a glimpse into the rapper’s admiration for the F1 icon.

Martin Brundle has earned popularity as an F1 pundit for his engaging interviews and anticipated grid walks.

Known for conversing with everyone, from staff to superstars, before races, Brundle’s presence has left a mark on the F1 community, even if the interactions are occasionally awkward.

Stormzy, who is becoming a familiar face on the F1 grid, is always enthusiastic about interacting with Brundle after their initial encounter.

Brundle and Stormzy first crossed paths during a grid walk at the 2021 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.

This eventful meeting took place prior to Max Verstappen’s controversial victory over Lewis Hamilton, which denied the Mercedes driver a record-breaking eighth world title.

The two figures crossed paths again during the 2023 British Grand Prix, continuing their growing friendship.

The association between the two dates back many years, with Hamilton having made an appearance in Stormzy’s music video for “LONGEVITY.”

While Stormzy isn’t expected to attend the Dutch Grand Prix, Brundle’s famous grid walk is due to return, giving fans an entertaining pre-race show.

With racing having been on hiatus during the summer break, fans will be sure to tune in for what should be a exciting event, as title-leader Max Verstappen hopes to take another victory in his home Grand Prix.
