Sergio Perez prediction issued for Monaco GP

Sergio Perez’s reputation as a street circuit specialist is well known throughout Formula 1, with the Mexican having already taken victory in Jeddah and Baku this year.

Sergio Perez has developed a reputation in Formula 1 as the king of street circuits, with his skill around the tracks evident this year.

In fact, Perez has secured every victory of his career at Red Bull around street circuits, winning in Singapore, Monaco, Saudi Arabia and twice in Azerbaijan.

This season, the Mexican has roared into the title fight against his teammate Max Verstappen with victory in Jeddah and both the Grand Prix and Sprint race in Baku.

Perez now finds himself just 14 points behind Verstappen, clearly hungry to take the lead in the Drivers’ Standings for the first time in his career.

With Monaco the next race on the calendar, seeing drivers speed around the narrow streets and tight corners, Perez has been backed to secure another win, closing the gap with the Dutchman.

“In Miami, we saw that Max is really on a different level. Not only compared to Sergio, but compared to the entire grid,” former Formula 1 world champion Damon Hill told the F1 Nation podcast.

“At circuits like Baku and Jeddah you could see how good Sergio was. I even think he was better than Max there.”

The weekend in Monaco could prove to be a test of endurance and skill given the weather forecast, as rain risks making the circuit even more treacherous.

The predicted rain could see a similarly chaotic affair to last year’s race, which was delayed after an unexpected shower made the track too tricky to navigate.

After more than an hour of delays, Perez secured the victory in the principality, capitalising on a poor strategy call from Ferrari that threw away Charles Leclerc’s shot at the trophy in his hometown.
