Sergio Perez breaks silence amid sack rumours

Disappointing results have raised concerns about whether Sergio Perez should be sacked by Red Bull.

Sergio Perez’s aspirations of contending for the world title alongside his Red Bull teammate, Max Verstappen, have taken a hit as the Dutchman extended his lead by a staggering 69 points in Canada.

Following a series of underwhelming performances, the pressure on Perez mounts significantly. However, the Mexican driver remains determined to rediscover his form, according to Motorsportweek.

Perez’s hopes were dashed when he failed to advance beyond sixth place in Canada, with a particularly disappointing qualifying session.

Concerned about his own speed, Perez expressed his intention to collaborate closely with the Red Bull team to identify the underlying issues.

“We’re going to put in a lot of effort alongside the team to understand what’s going on at the moment,” Perez stated.

The consecutive disappointments in Canada, Spain, and Monaco have left Perez in need of a recovery. Accepting the situation for what it is, he emphasised the importance of mental strength during challenging times.

Perez remains confident in his ability to bounce back, stating: “I know I will overcome this difficult period of two races. In Monaco, yes, I made a mistake, and it was a rough weekend, but without that, we had the pace.”

Perez’s exceptional performances on street circuits in Bahrain, Jeddah, and Baku earlier in the season had ignited hopes of a successful campaign.
