Sebastian Vettel reunites with ‘Kinky Kylie’ as he returns to Red Bull

Sebastian Vettel hasn't driven for Red Bull since racing for them in 2014, prior to switching to Ferrari in 2015.

Four-time World Champion Sebastian Vettel will be attending Red Bull’s Formula Nürburgring event later this year, with the German having confirmed that he’ll be driving one of his title-winning cars.

Vettel revealed on Wednesday that he’d be behind the wheel of his sensational RB7 at the event, with it having been nicknamed ‘Kinky Kylie’.

Vettel drove the RB7 during 2011, a year which saw him claim his second consecutive Drivers’ Championship.

The retired Formula 1 driver will be completing a series of demo runs at the event, with his car set to be run on e-fuel.

Vettel is excited for his appearance at the legendary venue on September 9, where he’ll be reunited with ‘Kinky Kylie’.

“In any case, it will be great fun to drive my RB7 – fuelled with e-fuel – on the Nordschleife as part of a show run!” Vettel said in a clip on social media.

Vettel will be joined at the Nürburgring by former team-mate Daniel Ricciardo, who partnered him during his final season with Red Bull.

Ricciardo replaced fellow Australian Mark Webber ahead of the 2014 season, which ended up being Vettel’s last with the Milton Keynes-based side, before switching to Ferrari.

Ricciardo actually finished ahead of Vettel that season, something which certainly wasn’t expected given that the 35-year-old was the defending World Champion.

2014 saw the start of Mercedes’ domination, with that season having marked the start of the hybrid-era.

Ricciardo has returned to Red Bull this season as their development driver, following his departure from McLaren.

Whilst he’s expressed hit intent on returning to the F1 grid, Vettel is yet to really give an insight into his future plans, and whether they include a return to racing.

Vettel brought his F1 career to an end at the conclusion of 2022, following his second season at Aston Martin.

The German is also set to appear at the Goodwood Festival of Speed next month, where he’ll be driving Nigel Mansell’s 1992 title winning car whilst using sustainable fuel.

Perhaps being reunited with his RB7 will make Vettel want to return to F1 in the near future, something fans would absolutely love to see.
