Red Bull Address Rumours That Newey Will Join Aston Martin In 2021

Horner also said he is “100 percent certain” that Verstappen will still be a Red Bull driver in 2021.

Speaking ahead of this weekend’s Russian Grand Prix, Red Bull team principal Christian Horner has said he is confident that chief technical officer Adrian Newey will remain at the team despite rumours suggesting he is poised to join Aston Martin Racing.

“The situation with Adrian, he’s been with us for 14 years. He’s very happy within the team, he enjoys working with the environment,” Horner said.

“He’s obviously taken more of a step back in recent years, but he’s still motivated and he’ll absolutely be with the team next year, without any doubt.”

It was also recently reported that Max Verstappen has a performance-related exit clause in his contract which could let him walk away from the Milton Keynes-based team.

Horner didn’t confirm or deny the existence of this clause, simply saying, “The contract between the driver and the team is always going to be confidential, and there will always be speculation regarding it.

“But I’m 100 percent certain Max Verstappen will be in a Red Bull Racing car next year.”
