Pierre Gasly gets caught red-handed on Instagram

Pierre Gasly has given us some intriguing social media activity to laugh at in recent years.

AlphaTauri have leaned into the meme around Pierre Gasly’s social media activity by uploading a hilarious Instagram reel.

In the last couple of years, Formula 1 fans have noticed that Gasly tends to leave a like on, not just F1 posts and posts that pertain to him, but all sorts of weird, wacky and wonderful photos, videos and tweets.

From pet videos, to epic fails to some of the most confusing content out there, many of them end up ritually being attached to the same amusing words – ‘Liked by Pierre Gasly.’

Ahead of the Azerbaijan Grand Prix, the AlphaTauri social media team had Gasly sat in his driver room with four different phones, scrolling to every post and double tapping it to like it.

“What are you doing?” asked the AlphaTauri social media admin.

“Sending good vibes,” replied Gasly.

“That’s how you do it,” said the admin.

Gasly certainly will have liked his performance last weekend too, earning his best qualifying of the year in P6, before ending the race P5.

It might have been P4, but a Virtual Safety Car gave Sir Lewis Hamilton a cheap pit stop, and he was able to catch and pass the 26-year-old.

“We knew we’d have a chance to do well after seeing our pace in Monaco,” explained Gasly.

“To be fighting with Lewis, probably not so that was slightly better than what we expected, and I’m really pleased because we did no mistakes all weekend.

“We showed good speed in practice; we managed to translate it into a good qualifying position and today was good.

“I had Lewis behind for quite a few laps, and we knew with our strategy with only one set of hard tyres, if there would be a Safety Car at the end in the last 20 laps it wouldn’t be great for us and unfortunately this is what happened.

“After, Lewis was just melting on me pretty fast; I tried to defend the best I could, but I didn’t manage to keep him behind.

“To take a P5 after the start of the year we had, I’m extremely happy with that.”

Gasly now sits 10th in the Drivers’ Standings on 16 points, 15 behind compatriot and Alpine driver Esteban Ocon in ninth.
