In a post-race interview, Schumacher said: “To Callum [Ilott], he gave me a run for his money – it’s been tough but so enjoyable at the same time. So big thank you to him.”

Earlier this week, it was announced that Schumacher will be joining the Haas F1 Team on a multi-year contract in 2021.

It had been speculated that he could make his F1 race debut even sooner, with Romain Grosjean announcing he will not take part in the last race of the season at Abu Dhabi next weekend.

However, Haas have since announced that reserve driver Pietro Fittipaldi will continue to fill in for Grosjean at next weekend’s race.
