Mick Schumacher will drive his father’s Mercedes

Mick Schumacher will be in attendance at the 2023 Goodwood Festival of Speed, paying tribute to his father Michael Schumacher.

The 2023 Goodwood Festival of Speed is scheduled to run on July 13-16 with an array of Formula 1 cars set to appear.

Many believe 2023 to be the biggest year yet with some models expected to be seen in public for the very first time.

For Formula 1 fanatics, one of the most electrifying moments of the weekend will be witnessing Mick Schumacher drive his father’s Mercedes W02 Formula 1 race car around the track on a truly historic day.

Michael Schumacher, a seven-time world champion, with 91 race wins under his belt and a whopping 155 podiums, retired from the sport at the end of the 2012 season.

The W02 was the final car the F1 legend competed in for F1 and now his son is set to test out that very car.

The car has some particularly fascinating features the first of which was the regenerative brakes and a boost button steering wheel. The button would allow the driver to use stored energy on straights.

In addition, another feature of note was the adjustable rear wing which meant the likelihood of overtaking was increased, adding further thrills to the contest.

Mick Schumacher has been out of Formula 1 since his two-year stint with Haas F1 team ended at the end of 2022.

The driver showed glimpses of brilliance but was involved in too many high-cost accidents for Haas to justify keeping the young talent.
