Mercedes Win 7th Consecutive F1 Constructors’ Title As Hamilton Takes Victory At Imola

Valtteri Bottas started on pole but his race was compromised after his car was damaged on the second lap of the grand prix.

The Mercedes F1 Team have won their seventh consecutive constructors’ title as Lewis Hamilton led home a Silver Arrows one-two at Imola.

Valtteri Bottas started the grand prix on pole position but his race was compromised after his car was damaged on the second lap of the grand prix, and Hamilton later benefitted from a timely virtual safety car to overtake the Finnish driver and Max Verstappen.

Verstappen retired towards the end of the race with what appeared to be a tyre failure or an immediate puncture as he approached the second chicane.

Daniel Ricciardo finished the grand prix in third position to secure his second ever podium with Renault.  

Meanwhile, Daniil Kvyat put in a great drive to finish P4 in the AlphaTauri, while his team-mate, Pierre Gasly, had to retire his car in the early stages of the race after a very strong performance in qualifying.

Charles Leclerc, Sergio Perez, and Carlos Sainz finished in P5, P6 and P7, respectively.

Lando Norris, Kimi Raikkonen and Antonio Giovinazzi rounded out the top ten.

Williams driver George Russell appeared to be in a good position to score his first points in Formula One, but he crashed behind the safety car while trying to get heat into his tyres.
