George Russell was evidently disappointed with only finishing ninth in the Sakhir Grand Prix after leading most of it and looking to have the edge over his Mercedes team-mate Valtteri Bottas.
Mercedes ruined both of its drivers’ races by messing up a double-stacked pitstop which resulted in Russell needing to pit again straight away and Bottas going out on a set of used hard-compound tyres.

Russell subsequently recovered up to P2 and was catching race leader Sergio Perez, but he then had to pit again after the team detected a slow puncture on one of his tyres.
The Formula One community has been reacting to the race on social media, with Russell’s misfortune attracting most of the attention.
Some F1 fans even suggested, quite ridiculously, that Mercedes deliberately sabotaged Russell to counter the argument that “anyone can win in such a dominant car”, not just Lewis Hamilton.
