The Mercedes F1 Team has claimed that team principal Toto Wolff was recently misquoted by the media.

Earlier this month, Wolff reportedly said that McLaren Racing CEO Zak Brown and Red Bull team principal Christian Horner “just spread sh*t.”

He made the comment in response to Brown opining that Mercedes will drop Sir Lewis Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas at the end of 2021 for Max Verstappen and George Russell.

“Brown is like Christian Horner. They just spread sh*t. I think Zak wanted to give Christian one with it,” Wolff said in response to the McLaren Racing CEO’s speculation.

However, Mercedes have now insisted that Wolff was misquoted.

“He said Zak and Christian were giving each other sh*t – not that they spread sh*t,” a Mercedes team spokesperson said this week.
