Max Verstappen wants a salary increase

Max Verstappen extended his title lead in Canada, joking that he’s earned a new contract.

Max Verstappen, the dominant force in the 2023 Formula 1 season, couldn’t help but tease Red Bull after claiming the team’s 100th victory at the Canadian Grand Prix. 

With another impressive P1 finish in Montreal, Verstappen widened his lead over teammate Sergio Perez to 69 points in the World Championship standings, securing his sixth win of the season.

The win held special significance for Red Bull as it marked a significant milestone in the team’s history since entering Formula 1 in 2005.

Verstappen, who has played a crucial role in the team’s success, light-heartedly mentioned his contribution to the victory tally.

“I’ve won 41 of them! We’ll talk about maybe a new contract because of that!” Verstappen jokingly quipped to the media during the post-race interviews in Canada. 

Despite the playful banter, Verstappen expressed genuine satisfaction with the team’s achievement, acknowledging the collective effort behind the milestone.

“No, honestly, it’s a great achievement for the team. We knew that this was the first opportunity, of course, to do so, and I’m happy that’s done,” Verstappen added.

While celebrating the team’s remarkable achievement, Verstappen also shared his aspirations for even greater success in the future.

Eager to continue their winning streak, he set his sights on surpassing the 100-win mark and reaching new heights with Red Bull.

“We’ve won 100. But again, I hope we win more than 100,” Verstappen stated with determination. “So the new target is 200.”

Verstappen’s commanding lead in the championship standings and his exceptional performances on the track have solidified his status as a top contender. 

With his sights set on securing his third World Championship title, the Dutch driver clearly remains focused and determined to propel Red Bull to further success.
