Max Verstappen and Yuki Tsunoda face off in intense battle

Red Bull's (Un)Serious Race Series showcased Max Verstappen and Yuki Tsunoda's off-road skills.

In an exhilarating showdown ahead of the Austrian Grand Prix, Max Verstappen and Yuki Tsunoda engaged in a fierce battle behind the wheels of massive 500bhp trucks at the iconic Erzberg mine. 

The custom-built trucks, equipped with wheels weighing approximately 700kg each, provided the perfect setting for an off-road race that loosely resembled a modified version of the renowned Red Bull Ring circuit.

This thrilling encounter between Verstappen and Tsunoda formed part of Red Bull’s (Un)Serious Race Series, an exciting competition that places two drivers in vehicles they don’t typically drive, testing their adaptability and skill in unconventional racing scenarios. 

As the drivers prepared for the challenge, Verstappen admitted his relative lack of experience in off-road racing, saying: “I’ve never really done anything properly offroad.

“I have driven my dad’s rally car, but that was more on the tarmac. 

“Honestly, the approach of my qualifying lap was to survive! It was a lot of fun.”

The race series provides Formula 1 drivers with a unique opportunity to demonstrate their versatility and have some fun outside the intense atmosphere of traditional race weekends. 

These events allow them to showcase their talents in a relaxed and light-hearted setting, fostering camaraderie and friendly competition among the drivers.

The off-road truck race at the Erzberg mine offered Verstappen and Tsunoda a chance to demonstrate their off-road driving skills, navigating through challenging terrain and powering their way towards victory. T

The high-powered trucks, specially designed for this type of race, required immense control and precision to conquer the demanding circuit.
