Max Verstappen and Sebastian Vettel ranked as ugliest drivers in F1

While the winner on the racetrack is usually obvious, beauty is more of a subjective topic with some surprise names coming out on top.

Formula 1 is full of statistics and records, with drivers being ranked on hundreds of different categories on a daily basis.

Over the winter break however, researchers at Gambling.com have taken a more whimsical approach to ranking the F1 grid as they partnered up with the Golden Ratio Face app to determine which driver has the most natural beauty.

The app takes photos of the subject and implements criteria such as how symmetrical the face is and how similar their features are to create a beauty score out of ten.

Sitting in last place in terms of beauty on the 2022 F1 grid is four-time world champion Sebastian Vettel, who scored 8.02 in the Golden Ratio Face app scoring system.

Current F1 champion Max Verstappen finished just ahead of Vettel in 19th, while fan favourite and Instagram obsessed driver Pierre Gasly finished surprisingly low down the order in 14th.

Lewis Hamilton scored an impressive 8.79 in the ‘Face Beauty Analysis’ which put him just outside the podium places in fourth, being beaten to third by his former teammate Valtteri Bottas, who has recently shaken up his looks with a mullet over the winter break.

Second place was awarded to the recently single Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc, with the Monegasque scoring a highly impressive 9.07 but still having to settle for the runner up spot, just as he did in this year’s drivers’ championship.

Taking victory in this entertaining ranking by Gambling.com is Alpine driver Esteban Ocon, with the Frenchman scoring a massive 9.35 out of ten when his photo was put into the Golden Ratio Face app.

The app used the drivers official F1 headshots to generate the scores, meaning that there could have been no other background factors such as lighting or location that could have affected the scoring.

While Ocon will be pleased to learn that he is scientifically the most beautiful driver on the F1 grid, he will be targeting other titles in the years to come on the racetrack rather than off it.

Paired with Pierre Gasly at Alpine for 2023, both team and driver will be hunting for podiums and race wins in the near future, as the rebranded Renault look in continue increasing their stature in the sport.
