Lewis Hamilton to race American actor worth over $400 million

Lewis Hamilton is part of the team behind an upcoming movie based around Formula 1.

It has been revealed by the Daily Mail that actor Brad Pitt will lead the parade lap at the British Grand Prix later in the year, as part of a film he’s working on with seven-time World Champion Lewis Hamilton.

Pitt will on the track driving a lookalike F1 car, in a ‘race’ against Hamilton, with filming set to actually get underway in a few weeks.

The film is supposedly going to see an ex-F1 driver come out of retirement to mentor and partner a young star, with a source having told the Daily Mail about Pitt’s appearance at the British GP.

“Watching Brad Pitt leading the field in the British Grand Prix will be an incredible and surreal moment for TV viewers and fans at Silverstone this July,” the Daily Mail were told by a source.

Based on what’s been revealed, F1 president and CEO Stefano Domenicali wasn’t wrong when he shared that the film would be “quite invasive in terms of production, it’s something that we need to control in a way, but it will be another way of showing that F1 never stops.”

As challenging as the production of the film could be, Liberty Media CEO Greg Maffei is expecting the result to “be amazing”, especially with the team behind ‘Top Gun: Maverick’ being behind it.

Maffei expects the sport to become even bigger following the release of the unnamed film, due to the stunning line-up of people involved.

“This movie, kind of like Vegas, is going to be a whole other level,” Maffei said this month at a meeting with F1 investors, as reported by PlanetF1.com.

“As much as Drive to Survive is enormous to a lot of people around the world, I still go places and people say, ‘Huh?’ Its audience is not that big. It may be big among this group, but it’s not that big.

“A Brad Pitt movie with Lewis Hamilton consulting, and with Bruckheimer and with the director from Top Gun: Maverick – we’ve already seen some of what they’re going to do, and how they’re going to skin these cars.

“They took the technology from Top Gun, and it’s going to be amazing.”
