Mercedes’ difficult weekend at the Miami Grand Prix clearly hasn’t gone down well with their fans, with one having gone to the extreme length of cancelling their accommodation for the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix.
Saturday in particular was a day to forget for the Silver Arrows at the Miami International Autodrome, with both Lewis Hamilton and George Russell having struggled in qualifying.
Russell miraculously salvaged sixth on the grid for Sunday’s fifth round of the season due to a fortunate red flag towards the end of Q3, which resulted in several quicker drivers being unable to improve on their banker time.
Hamilton on the other hand, failed to even make it into Q3, with the 38-year-old having been forced to settle for 13th on the grid.

His disastrous Saturday marked the first time he’d ever failed to make Q3 on American soil, to highlight the team’s struggles.
Thankfully for Mercedes, Sunday was a considerably better day for the Brackley-based team.
As has been the story throughout the new aerodynamic regulations, Mercedes’ race pace was considerably better than their one lap performance, with Russell having finished the race in fourth whilst Hamilton did excellently to recover to sixth.
The result ensured that the Silver Arrows maintained third in the Constructors’ Championship, with the Germans now sitting just six points behind Aston Martin.
However, Red Bull remain far superior, with Mercedes being 128 points behind the Austrians.
The biggest positive for Mercedes following the Miami GP is that they will have their new concept the next time they hit the track at the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix, where the Germans are expected to improve.
Mercedes’ new concept for Imola is arguably the last hope for the paddock in regard to a multi-team title fight, due to the likes of Ferrari not being anywhere near good enough currently.
The Silver Arrows’ supporters seemingly aren’t feeling too optimistic about the upcoming Grand Prix, though, with one fan having shared on social media that they’ve cancelled their accommodation for Imola.
