Lewis Hamilton reveals if ‘it’s okay’ if the Royal Family snubbed him

Lewis Hamilton is hoping for a stronger weekend in Miami, as his winless streak continues to grow.

In 2021, Lewis Hamilton became the fourth Formula 1 driver to be knighted after he was named in the late Queen’s honours list.

He followed in the footsteps of Sir Jackie Stewart, Sir Stirling Moss and Sir Jack Brabham, cementing his status as an icon of the sport.

The honour came 11 years after Hamilton was awarded an MBE (Member of the Order of the British Empire) for services to motorsports.

With Britain celebrating the coronation of King Charles and Queen Camilla on 6th May, Sky Sports presenter Ted Kravitz asked Hamilton whether he had received an invitation to the historic event.

“I have no idea. I don’t see my mail. I’ve not seen my mail in years,” Hamilton said with a smile.

“I don’t know. It’d be kind of neat if I did. If I didn’t it’s OK.”

Lewis Hamilton planning to watch King Charles’ coronation

Even though Hamilton is focused on ensuring the best performance possible in the W14 around Miami this weekend, the British driver was feeling patriotic about the coronation, revealing plans to celebrate the event in his own way.

“I’m going to have it live on my phone mid-engineering,” Hamilton added.

Mercedes back on form?

Mercedes started the weekend with a promising performance in FP1, as George Russell and Hamilton topped the timesheet in P1 and P2.

However, the Silver Arrows slipped down to P7 and P15 respectively in FP2, as their true performance potential became clear.

Red Bull rose back to the top of the timesheet in FP2, as Max Verstappen took the top slot, reflecting his dominance so far this season.
