Lewis Hamilton responds to being ridiculed over his fashion style

Lewis Hamilton has taken on his critics in a comical video shared by Mercedes over the weekend.

With the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix cancelled, Lewis Hamilton returned to the home base of Mercedes in Brackley to enjoy creating some light-hearted content.

Hamilton became the latest celebrity to take part in a ‘mean tweets’ skit, following stars like President Barack Obama and Spiderman star Andrew Garfield.

The concept, which started on American talk show host Jimmy Kimmel’s late night programme, sees famous faces read remarks from those who’ve criticised them.

Hamilton was able to see the funny side of some of the remarks, being no stranger to opponents after years at the top of motorsport.

With over 34 million followers on Instagram, Hamilton is one of the biggest sports stars on the planet, but equally he is used to suffering abuse from opponents.

Having a break from the on track action, Hamilton responded to some of the criticism he’s received for his action in the driver’s seat and away from the racetrack.

“Lewis Hamilton is so draining man. Can’t the guy just say a sentence without curing world peace or just being a mad hippy,” one tweet read.

“What do you want me to say? I’m a positive guy,” Hamilton replied.

“Lewis Hamilton dresses like a non-speaking extra from Back to the Future 2,” another user said.

“There were some good outfits in there,” Hamilton responded, defending his fashion style.

Despite the, sometimes, offensive jibes from social media users, Hamilton finished the video on a positive note, urging fans of Formula 1 to be positive.

“I just want to say to everyone that has an opinion,” he added.

“Everyone has a right to an opinion. Anyone out there that doesn’t like me, that’s totally fine.

“You’re not supposed to love everyone in the world. I wish you nothing but positivity and I appreciate still the comments because they are pretty funny to be honest.”
