Lewis Hamilton Keeps Russian GP Pole Despite FIA Investigation

The Championship leader will start the race ahead of Max Verstappen and Mercedes team-mate Valtteri Bottas.

Lewis Hamilton, who was under investigation by the FIA for a track limits infringement in the first part of qualifying, will start the Russian Grand Prix on pole position after the FIA decided that no further action was needed.

The track limits infringement was related to Hamilton running wide at turn two during a flying lap in Q1.

His lap time was deleted and the FIA launched an investigation after the race to see if further punishment was in order as he didn’t follow the guidelines regarding how to safely return to the track.

Both Haas drivers and Williams’ Nicholas Latifi were also investigated for the same track limits violation.
