Seven-time Formula 1 world champion Lewis Hamilton has affirmed his unwavering faith in Mercedes and clarified that his ongoing contract discussions are not hindered by financial matters.
Although an extension to Hamilton’s current deal, which expires at the end of the year, is widely expected, a new contract has yet to be finalised.
Mercedes Team Principal Toto Wolff shed light on the situation during the Austrian Grand Prix weekend, emphasising that the delay in finalizing the contract was “not a money situation.”
Hamilton confirmed Wolff’s remarks when questioned about the matter, stating, “Yes, that is correct.”

When asked if the outcome of Mercedes’ car upgrades would influence his decision, Hamilton dismissed the notion, saying, “No, that’s not what I’m thinking.
“Before the end of the season, I think we will already be well into the contract.
“I still have 100% faith in this team. It has taken longer for all of us to get to where we want to be.
“It’s definitely not easy, but I believe we will get there.
“We have to continue to chip away at it.
“That’s why we have the upgrade here.
“We have a front wing here, and more bits at the following races.”
Hamilton further revealed his active involvement in shaping the development direction of Mercedes’ 2024 car.
He expressed his eagerness for the future, stating, “It couldn’t come soon enough, and I’m pushing as hard as I can.
“I was having big meetings with people in the team, the head of aero, and the head of dynamics, discussing what’s in mind for next year’s car.”
While the specifics of Hamilton’s contract negotiations remain undisclosed, his affirmation of his faith in Mercedes underscores the strong bond between the driver and the team.
