Liam Lawson will once again partner Max Verstappen at the Italian Grand Prix in Monza, with Isack Hadjar still sidelined by a wrist injury.
Hadjar fractured his wrist during a boxing session over the Formula 1 summer break, ruling him out of competition for the second consecutive race weekend.
The Frenchman missed the Dutch Grand Prix at Zandvoort in late August as a result, with Lawson stepping up from Racing Bulls to fill the vacant Red Bull RB22 seat.
With Lawson promoted to the senior team for that weekend, Yuki Tsunoda was recalled from reserve duties to partner rookie Arvid Lindblad at Racing Bulls in the VCARB 03.
Red Bull had been cautiously optimistic about Hadjar returning for Monza, but ultimately decided against rushing the 22-year-old back from his rehabilitation.
Both Red Bull-owned teams have now formally confirmed their driver line-ups for the Italian Grand Prix weekend remain unchanged from the Netherlands.
A Red Bull statement confirmed the decision: “Liam will drive alongside Max at the Italian GP in Monza, while Isack continues to make encouraging progress.”
The statement continued: “The team is closely monitoring his rehabilitation and will take no unnecessary risks with his return to competition and wishes him a speedy recovery.”
Lawson delivered a strong performance in his stand-in role at Zandvoort, qualifying eighth on the grid before finishing seventh in the race itself.
Tsunoda also acquitted himself well at Racing Bulls, narrowly missing out on the points by finishing 11th while matching his team-mates on single-lap pace throughout the weekend.
Both substitute drivers demonstrated they could hold their own against their respective team-mates across the Dutch Grand Prix weekend, making the decision to retain them in Monza a straightforward one for Red Bull’s management.
Reserve driver Ayumu Iwasa has also been confirmed to take Verstappen’s place in the Red Bull car during the opening practice session at Monza, fulfilling one of the team’s four mandated rookie practice outings for the 2026 season.
