Driving a Formula 1 car? Easy. Winning races? That seems to be easy enough too, but using TikTok was a bridge too far for Max Verstappen ahead of the Dutch Grand Prix.
The reigning world champion will take to the Zandvoort Circuit in front of his adoring home crowd this weekend, at the track that made its triumphant return in 2021, having last hosted a race in 1985.
Thousands of Dutch fans also made their way over to Spa Francorchamps last weekend, where they watched the 24-year-old come back from 14th on the grid to win the race by nearly 18 seconds from team-mate Sergio Perez.
It was Red Bull’s fourth one-two of the year, and the ninth win of the season for Verstappen.

One more for him this weekend in the Netherlands will equal his tally of 10 in the 22 rounds of last year, and a victory for either himself or Perez will take the Milton Keynes-based side to 11 for the season – as many as they earned throughout 2021.
It has been a dominant year for Red Bull; Verstappen leads by 93 points in the Drivers’ Standings from his team-mate, with Leclerc a further five back.
The four-time champions are 118 clear of Ferrari in the teams’ battle going into the 15th round of the season this weekend.
Verstappen was speaking with former McLaren and Red Bull driver, David Coulthard, ahead of this year’s edition of the Dutch Grand Prix, and the pair were live on TikTok.
As they were speaking, Coulthard used a filter that put a pair of MLG sunglasses on his face, and it caught the eye of Verstappen.
“I saw the glasses, that looked good!” he laughed.
“We are both experiencing our first TikTok!”
“I was hoping it would make me look younger,” joked Coulthard.
“Yeah, I don’t know, how do you even do that?!” said a confused Verstappen.
“I have no clue, we need some…”
The 13-time race winner then put a cowboy hat and moustache on himself, and a TikTok branded cap, much to Verstappen’s amusement.
“That looks good, I don’t know what to press, I’m trying to find it” he added.
“Ah wait, it costs money, or what is this?”

“I’ll pick the fee, you make me look younger,” offered Coulthard.
“Nice, I’m such a rookie in this,” replied the Dutchman.
Verstappen’s involvement in first practice in Zandvoort was cut short just after he had set the fastest lap time due to a gearbox issue.
