UK fans have a rare treat this weekend as the entire British Grand Prix at Silverstone is available to watch live and completely free on television.
Channel 4 holds the right to broadcast the British Grand Prix live and free, making it the only race of the year available to UK viewers without a subscription.
Sky Sports F1 holds the overall broadcast rights for Formula 1 in the UK, but special rules apply for the home race at Silverstone.
Channel 4 ordinarily broadcasts race highlights throughout the season, but the British Grand Prix weekend gives it the chance to show every session live.
That includes the Sprint race on Saturday morning, Qualifying on Saturday afternoon, and the main race on Sunday, with lights out scheduled for 1500 local time.
On Saturday July 4, Channel 4 will broadcast the Sprint from 1100 to 1300, followed by Qualifying from 1500 to 1800.
On Sunday July 5, coverage of the British Grand Prix itself will run from 1430 to 1700 on Channel 4.
A record crowd of 565,000 fans is expected to descend on Silverstone across the weekend, creating what promises to be an electric atmosphere.
Much of the crowd’s attention will be fixed on Lewis Hamilton, who returns to his home race looking to claim a historic tenth victory at Silverstone following his recent win for Ferrari at Barcelona.
Hamilton will face stiff competition from the dominant Mercedes pairing of championship leader Kimi Antonelli and fellow Briton George Russell, who have been the benchmark of the season so far.
Reigning world champion Lando Norris, another home favourite, will be desperate to build on his 2025 victory at Silverstone after a difficult start to his title defence.
Max Verstappen arrives at Silverstone in strong form as well, having pushed Mercedes very close at the Austrian Grand Prix the previous weekend.
