Horner Blames The Media For Lowering Alex Albon’s Confidence

Red Bull have insisted they have no plans of making an in-season change to their driver line-up.

Red Bull Racing team principal Christian Horner has long defended Alex Albon, even when calls for the Thai driver to be replaced were at their peak.

And now, Horner has blamed the media for lowering Albon’s confidence by constantly publishing speculation about his future and calling for him to be replaced.

“He only feels vulnerable because you [the media] keep telling him every week that we should put someone else in the car. He has the full support of the team,” Horner said in an interview with The Race.

Continuing, he said he can see Albon’s confidence now growing off the back of his first-ever F1 podium at Mugello a couple of weeks ago.

“I think the team is doing a good job with him, I think his racing engineer is getting more out of him and I think confidence is growing.”

Pierre Gasly, who Albon replaced at Red Bull last year, has re-found his form at Scuderia AlphaTauri, but the Milton Keynes-based team have made it clear that they have no plans of making an in-season change to their driver line-up.
