Haas Accidentally Leaks 2025 F1 Car, but Ferrari’s SF-25 Stands Apart

The leaked photos of the VF25 revealed several noticeable changes, such as bulkier sidepods and a more aggressive rear wing.

Haas has inadvertently revealed its 2025 F1 car, the VF25, through leaked images that circulated online following a private shakedown at Silverstone. The images showcased a revamped design, including updated sidepods and a new rear wing. However, despite Haas’ longstanding relationship with Ferrari, the VF25 and Ferrari’s SF-25 will look very different this season.

Distinct Designs for Two Teams

The leaked photos of the VF25 revealed several noticeable changes, such as bulkier sidepods and a more aggressive rear wing. However, the VF25 continues to use Ferrari’s gearbox and rear suspension. Despite this shared componentry, the two cars will diverge significantly in terms of design philosophy. Italian journalist Giuliano Duchessa pointed out that the Ferrari SF-25 will be “very different” from Haas’ car this year.

Ferrari’s Bold New Direction

Haas’ decision to forgo Ferrari’s reconfigured front suspension for 2025 was explained by team principal Ayao Komatsu, who emphasized the importance of conducting thorough research before adopting new components. Haas ultimately decided it would be more beneficial to carry over certain elements from 2024 rather than implement Ferrari’s updated suspension.

Meanwhile, Ferrari’s SF-25 is expected to feature major upgrades, including a new pull-rod front suspension layout, which has been tested extensively ahead of the season.

Reports indicate that the car’s rear suspension will remain similar to the 2024 model, with only minor adjustments to enhance balance and braking performance. The SF-25 also incorporates a redesigned front nose and sidepods to improve aerodynamic efficiency.

As Ferrari continues its pre-season testing, ahead of the 2025 Formula 1 season, all eyes will be on the team’s ability to compete with rivals like Red Bull, with significant changes to the SF-25 expected to play a pivotal role in their title challenge for 2025.
