George Russell Speaks Out On Lewis Hamilton’s Replacement

The 2025 season marks a significant transition for Mercedes, with Antonelli stepping into the seat previously held by seven-time World Champion Lewis Hamilton, who has moved to Ferrari.

Mercedes driver George Russell has expressed confidence in his new teammate, 18-year-old Kimi Antonelli, ahead of the 2025 Formula 1 season. Russell described Antonelli as “such a fantastic driver” and noted his swift integration into the team, stating, “He has already integrated so well.

We have both been racing from a young age and we know what needs to be fed back to the team.” He further emphasized that despite Antonelli’s youth, his feedback will be valuable, adding, “He is young, but his opinion will be just as valid.”

Russell acknowledged the shift in team dynamics with Antonelli’s arrival, recognizing his role as the more experienced driver.

He remarked, “I recognise my role as the more experienced driver. There are a lot of great young drivers coming onto the grid, and it makes you realise you are no longer the youngster.”

Reflecting on his career progression, Russell noted, “I am entering a new chapter in my career. I am ending my beginning and entering the mid stage.”
