Pre-season testing got underway on Friday in Bahrain, giving drivers the first chance to drive their 2021 cars at the limit and gather data ahead of the season-opener at the same circuit later this month.

Ferrari were the final team to unveil their 2021 challenger, with the Scuderia taking the wraps off of the SF21 just a couple of days prior to testing.

And, as testing got underway, some fans quickly suggested that Ferrari are yet to update their pit wall display, with Sebastian Vettel still appearing next to Charles Leclerc.

This prompted some fans to joke on social media that Ferrari still thinks the German is driving for them, while others poked fun at Carlos Sainz.

“They should just make it ‘Not Leclerc’,” one F1 fan commented on Reddit.

“Goodbye is the hardest word,” another wrote.

“It seems Ferrari still thinks Vettel drives for them,” a third wrote on Instagram.

However, as some other users pointed out, Ferrari have actually updated the display; they were just comparing the publicly available telemetry from Vettel’s Aston Martin AMR21 to the performance of Leclerc and their new car.

As they have plenty of data on Vettel from all the years he drove for the Scuderia, it makes sense for them to use him and the Mercedes-powered AMR21 as an initial benchmark, though there are still many variables during testing which they can’t control, like what fuel load he was running and how hard he was pushing.
