With the 2023 launch season very much underway, Ferrari have started the countdown to the unveiling of their competitor, which they’ve released the name of.
The Italians have announced that their car for the forthcoming season will be known as the SF-23, with Ferrari once again opting for a car name that has absolutely no relevance to its predecessor.
Whilst most teams use the numbers that correspond to the year in their car’s name, for example, Haas’ 2023 car is named the VF-23, or the numbers that relate to how many cars a team has made, for example, Red Bull’s 2023 car is named the RB19, Ferrari prefer a more erratic approach.
Whilst Ferrari have opted to incorporate the year 2023 into their car’s name for the upcoming season, their 2022 car was dubbed the F1-75, whilst their 2020 car was the SF1000.

The side certainly like to spice things up, with the likelihood being that nobody will care should they end their wait for a World Championship.
Ferrari haven’t claimed a title since winning the 2008 Constructors’ Championship, marking an unwanted wait.
2023, though, could be Ferrari’s year, with the Maranello-based team having reportedly had an exceptional off-season.
The SF-23 is believed to be a remarkable car, with Ferrari having solved and fixed the reliability issues that ridiculed their power unit last season.
As well as that, Ferrari have replaced Mattia Binotto with former Alfa Romeo boss Frederic Vasseur, who won’t hesitate to make changes should strategic errors occur once again.
Vasseur is yet to make any changes to the team’s strategic department and has revealed that for the start of the season he will “trust the guys in place”.

However, the Frenchman has warned that he will “take action” if errors are made once again.
“It would be arrogant from my side to take action on the technical organisation after two weeks,” he told reporters.
“We have discussions to try to understand how we could improve the system, what could be the weakness of the system and to try to do a better job. I trust the guys in place.
“I will try to do the best for them also, and to put them in the best condition to do the job. Then it will be time, after a couple of weeks or months, to take action if it’s not working.”
